In German 'Jubiläums-Erinnerungsmedaille für die bewaffnete Macht und die Gendarmerie 1898'

The medal was issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph I.

The medal was issued in three types. Gold and bronze issues were issued for the Armed Forces and Gendarmerie, both types worn from plain red coloured ribands. It was only issued in bronze for the civilian recipients, which latter wore the medal form a red and white riband

The medal fitted with an Austrain silk 'Triangular' riband with fittings
