Charles Lyall Mason served as Chief Officer with the Wolverton Works Fire Brigade, Buckinghamshire, and was awarded his Long Service Medal on 7 September 1920

The recipient was a most distinguished 'Railwayman' and Mechanical Engineer. He volunteered for service with the British Army during the Great War, serving with the Royal Engineers (Despatch-Rider, 1915) and subsequently commissioned. As an officer he was decorated with the Military Cross for gallantry, as well as the award of a Mention-in-Despatches (MID)
