Officer Commission: Cadet James Greaves (7931609) was granted an Emergency Commission in the Regular Army when he was appointed 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Armoured Corps, with effect from from 25 February 1945 (the Supplement to the London Gazette issue of 10 April 1945 refers)

Royal Tank Corps: Prior to being commissioned James Greaves held the unique regimental number '7931609', which was in the block 7868001-8109000 allocated to the Tank Corps in 1920, and awarded sequentially to all enlistments in the corps 1920-1941.
