Reginald John Robson, was a native of Middlesbrough, Cleveland, Yorkshire, England, where he was born circa 1879. By trade a 'Clerk' Richard volunteered for overseas service with the Imperial Yeomanry in South Africa, under a short service 'One Year With The Colours' contract. Reginald enlisted at Newcastle on, 7 February 1901, and was posted to his local 'Northumberland' Imperial Yeomanry unit. He embarked for South Africa on, 10 March 1901, and served overseas in South Africa through to 8 September 1902, a total of 1 year & 266 days. He took his final discharge from the British Army on, 15 September 1902
