The Janaraja Padakkama (Republic Medal) was awarded to police officers in Sri Lanka who were in service on 22 May 1972, on which date when Ceylon became a republic. It is the police force counterpart to the similar, but separate Republic of Sri Lanka Armed Services Medal issued to the regular armed forces that also commemorated the creation of the Republic of Sri Lanka
