Reference the local newspaper ''The Yorkshire Post & Leeds Mercury' issue of 8 April 1954' there is a lengthy article about a Journalists visit to the 1st Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment then based in Gibraltar, after the battalion had returned from its 1 years active service tour in Korea

The article mentions a Private Longbottom of 'A' Company 1/DWR doing 'Ceremonial Guard Duty', and that he was from Leeds. No forename initial or name was given.

A cross-reference check of the 1939 National Register for England & Wales returns 8 x males born in the period 1930-32, who were living in Leeds in 1939 - of the eight only one had a forename initial 'R', vis Raymond Longbottom who was born on 19 July 1931, and who died in Leeds on 14 August 1995
