Edward Holden Carr was a native of Clitheroe, Lancashire, England, where he was born on, 17 August 1886. He was the son of a long serving Policeman, his father George Carr, shown recorded as a Police Constable in Edward's 'Baptism' record, and who held the rank of Police Sergeant in the Lancashire County Constabulary, at the time of the 1901 National Census. The 1911 National Census for England and Wales, records Edward employed as a Police Constable with the Lancashire County Constabulary, at which time he was residing with his wife, Leah Carr (22) and his mother Ann Elizabeth Carr (46) at, Dean Terrace, Parkbridge, Ashton under Lyme, Lancashire, England
