A large 'Silvered' bronze issue of the 'Grande Modele' medal type, being a substantive and impressive 36mm dimension medal

The medal was only issued retrospectively in 1911, to the surviving veterans who had fought in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71

With 'Bronze' metal mark and makers mark logo for 'Arthus Bertrand et Compagnie' indented on flat rim of medal
