Herbert Wilson Flintoft son of William Flinitof (a Mason) and Martha Flintoft (nee Walker) was a native of Lastingham, Yorkshire, England, where he was born on 9 September 1874. Herbert, a Yorkshireman had relocated to Wallsend, Northumberland sometime prior to 1901, as he is recorded living in Wallsend, employed as a 'Clothier' in the 1901 National Census. By the time of the 1939 National Register for England & Wales, Herbert is described as a Sports Goods Retailer - and shown as a serving 'Special Constable - residing with his wife, Mary Jane Flintoft, and their daughter, Bertha Flintoft (a Dancing Teacher) at their residence located at, 14 Park View, Wallsend, Northumberland, England. Herbert is confirmed to have died in Northumberland, England, on 3 September 1951
