Medal Verification: Reference on-line Post Office Pension Records 1860-1970, accessible at the 'Ancestry' genealogical website, Miss Jessie Reid is confirmed having been employed as a Post Office Sorting Clerk and Telegraphist at Liverpool, England. On taking retirement on 31 January 1920, due to her forthcoming marriage to a Mr. Forbes on, 19 February 1920, Jessie was recommended for the award of the Imperial Service Medal. She had been appointed to the Post Office on, 10 October 1894, and the recommendation for awards states that she had:

The recommendation for award was signed by the Secretary of the Treasury dated 24 March 1920, and was acknowledged in a letter sent by the Postmaster General, in reply, on 30 March 1920, who advised that the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury had taken note that Mss. Reid had been recommended for award of the Imperial Service Medal
