Harold Knight was a native of Sleaford, Lincolnshire, England, where he was born on, 4 October 1905 (some sources give the year as 1900). At the time of the compilation of the National Register for England and Wales in 1939, Harold is shown therein as employed as a 'General Labourer Heavy Works', and under the remarks column is the further entry 'Special Constable, Lincolnshire Special Constabulary. In 1939, Harold lived with his wife Doris Elsie Knight at their residence located at, Ashby De La Launde, Ruskington, East Kesteven, Lincolnshire, England

The medals mounted in the swing-style and as-worn by the recipient the original silk ribands suspended form a white metal mounting bar, this latter retaining its long hinged pin and clasp fittings
