Squadron Leader Philip Henry HUDGELL (199411), Royal Air Force

Philip Henry Hudgell, second son of Felix Harold Hudgell (Carpenter & Joiner) and Elsie Louise Hudgell (nee Hall) was a native of Chelsea, London, England, where he was born on, 4 December 1923. At the time of the compilation of the National Register for England & Wales in 1939, Philip is shown employed as a G.P.O. Boy Messenger, and living with his parents and two sibling brothers at the family residence located at, Odessa Road, Leyton, Waltham Forest, London. Philip was appointed Temporary Postman Messenger with the Post Office on, 29 June 1940. Philip joined the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve and was given the unique service number 1605111. He subsequently served as a Sergeant during the North West Europe campaign, and later commissioned into the 'General Duties' branch of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, when he was given an appointment to commission as a Pilot Officer on probation, with effect from 15 June 1945. Philip took the decision to make a career in the Royal Air Force, and after subsequent promotions, the Air Ministry on, 30 September 1955, promoted him from Flight Lieutenant to Squadron Leader in the 'General Duties Branch' with effect from 1 October 1955. Philip Henry Hudgell is recorded to have died in Hampshire, England on, 31 July 2001
