The regimental shoulder insignia is very scarce seen - and positively rare with the named original regimental notice (a/f) authorizing him to wear the regimental insignia
Medals Verification: All 6 x medals confirmed as entitled and issued per the recipients extant service papers
Andrew Mathew Currie son of Johanna Maria Currie (notified next of kin, Nelson House, Middelburg, Transvaal), was born in the Union of South Africa on, 1 October 1912. Prior to the Second World War, Andrew was employed as bank messenger. He attested into the Union Defence on 20 August 1940, and posted to the Kimberley Regiment. Promoted to Lance Corporal in 1942, he served with the Kimberley Regiment and 1st Light Horse Kimberley Regiment in Egypt between 19 April 1943 and 14 April 1944. Currie then served in Italy from 15 April 1944 to August 1945. He embarked in the Middle East on 17 September 1945 for return to South Africa, disembarking at Durban on 1 October 1945 and was later discharged on 7 November 1945. His service papers confirm the medals listed which were despatched to him on 29 September 1952. He died in June 1986
