George Alfred Brown, was a native of the parish of St. Nicholas, Brighton, Sussex, England, where he was born on, 22 June 1891. By trade a 'Saddler' George enlisted in the British Army on, 22 June 1909, and was posted to the Royal Horse Artillery. From 6 October 1914, George had served in France with the 15th Brigade Ammunition Column of the Royal Horse Artillery. Post-war George was serving with the Army of Occupation in Germany, when he re-enlisted in the British Army, having re-attested on 23 January 1919. He subsequently served overseas again in North West Persia in the early 1920's. He was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in 1927. George married Jennie Tester (of 100 Week Street, Maidstone, Kent), at Uckfield on, 6 April 1926. The following year, the couple were blessed with a son, George Terrence Brown, who was born at Aldershot, Hampshire, England on, 5 April 1927. George Alfred Brown took his final discharge from the British Army on, 21 June 1930, by which time he had completed 21 years service
