KIRRIEMUIR NATIVE AWARDED O.B.E.

Mr George R. Lamb, Solicitor

Mr George Robb Lamb, principal clerk of the Scottish Land Court and a native of Kirriemuir, has been awarded the O.B.E. in the King's Birthday Honours announced today.

Mr Lamb was educated at Websters Seminary and served his apprenticeship in the office of Mr James Wilkie, which is now known as Wilkie & Dundas. Fully 45 years ago he went to Edinburgh University where he was Thow Scholar in Scots Law and in 1908 he qualified as solicitor. He became legal assessor of the Land Court in 1914 and was appointed principal clerk in 1928. To-day Mr Lamb is acknowledged as one of the most widely experienced agricultural lawyers in Scotland.

During the 1914-18 War Mr Lamb was commissioned in the 1st Battalion King's Own Scottish Borderers, and was wounded in 1917 at the battle of the Somme
