Percival 'Percy' George Pitman, son of Charles Edward Pitman (in 1911 employed as a Colliery Bankman) and Anne 'Annie' Pitman (nee Buckingham) was a native of Henbury, Gloucestershire, England, where he was born on, 24 December 1899. At the time of the compilation of the 1911 National Census for England and Wales, Percival is recorded living with his parents and two siblings at their residence located at, 12 Derllwyn Road, Ynysawdre, Glamorganshire, Wales. At the time of the 1911 Census, Percival's father was described as employed as a 'Colliery Bankman', and his siblings were older brother Reginald Charles Pitman b.1898) and younger sister Gwendoline Pitman (b.1903) - the family having been living in Glamorgan, Wales, since at least 1903 (Gwendoline was born in Cefncribbwr, Glamorgan, Wales). By April 1921, and described as a 'Farm Labourer', Percival was living with his parents, and sister at, 'The Common', Compton Dando, Somerset, England. 'Percival's unique Royal Air Force service number is in the block 340001-36000 first allocated from September 1919, and which was completed by 16 June 1925. In 1931, Percival married Doris Gwendoline Bees, at the parish of St. Mary, Compton Dando, Somerset, England. From United Kingdom passenger shipping manifests in the inter-war era Percival is shown making a deployment in March
1935, to final destination Iraq, at which time he was holding the rank of Flight Sergeant. The Royal Air Force List for March 1940, records Percival as holding the appointment of 'Warrant Officer' in the 'Equipment Branch' from, 1 March 1940. Percival George Pitman is recorded to have died at Bath, Somerset, England, sometime during the third quarter of 1983
