Joseph Frederick Comper son of Thomas James Comper and Ada Comper (nee Burrage), was a native of Horsham, Sussex, England where he was born on 24 December 1913. While serving with his local county infantry regiment Joseph's father, No G/4380 Private Thomas James Comper 7th Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment, was 'Killed-in-Action' in France & Flanders on, 7 July 1916. Shortly after the breakout of the Second World War, Joseph enlisted in the Royal Air Force, and was holding the rank of Corporal, when as a divorcee he married (secondly) Isabel Dixon at Wigton, Cumbria, sometime during the second quarter of 1944. Joseph Frederick Comper, of 30 Barras Close, Morton Park, Carlisle, Cumbria, is recorded to have died on, 2 December 1988
