The Colonial Police Medal for Gallantry, became obsolete in 2012 when it was restyled as the Overseas Territories Police Medal. The last awards of the Colonial Police Medal for Gallantry were made in 1974 to members of the Royal Hong Kong Police - the final two awards were presented to the two recipients in 1975 while Queen Elizabeth was in Hong Kong Colony on a Royal Visit
