Twice Decorated and Wounded-in-Action: A brave and tenacious young 'Highland' soldier, Ronald Dingwall was twice decorated with the Military Medal in France 1917, for 'Bravery in the Field, while serving with 8th (Service) Battalion Seaforth Highlanders. In late November 1917, Ronald was listed as 'Wounded-in-Action' per the British Expeditionary Forces 'Weekly Casualty List' of date 25 November 1917, that was published in the War Office Weekly Casualty List of issue date, 3 December 1918 - in this latter source which later his residence is shown as 'Portree'

Ronald Dingwall was only a teenager when he enlisted in the Territorial Force of the British Army on, 21 March 1913 (SWB roll refers), at which time he was posted to the Lovat Scouts Enlisted 21 March 1913 / Discharged 7 February 1919, at which time he was 22 years of age.
Ronald Dingwall son of Murdoch Dingwall (a native of Snizort, who was a Farm-Servant in 1881, and engaged as a Canal Banksman in 1901) & Catherine 'Kate' Dingwall (nee McLennan, and native of Snizort) was born in Houston, Renfrewshire, Scotland in 1898.The 1901 National Census for Scotland records Ronald living at home at the family residence 'Standalane, Clydebank, Dumbarton' where he lived with his parents and 5 x siblings, vis, his 3 x older brothers Alexander Dingwall (8, who served in Scots Guards and Wounded-in-Action, France 1915) Murdoch Dingwall (7), and Neil Dingwall (5) together with his 2 x sisters, Katie Ann Dingwall (12) and Flora Dingwall (2). Prior to the Great War, the family had re-located to Skye, where they lived at Glenhinnisdal, near Portree, Skye (post-war pension records refer). Ronald Dingwall was only a teenager when he enlisted in the Territorial Force of the British Army on, 21 March 1913 (SWB roll refers), at which time he was posted to the Lovat Scouts Ronald took his discharge from the British Army on February 1919, at which time he was 22 years of age
