Medal & Clasps Verification: No. 1675 Squadron Sergeant Major Hugh Jones, 1st Battalion Kitchener's Fighting Scouts, is verified being entitled to the medal and both clasps per the respective campaign medal roll of the Kitchener's Fighting Scouts. In addition he was also entitled to a QSA medal - on roll of Kitchener's Fighting Scouts - with the below following medal clasps as referenced below:

The medal rolls annotated to show that the recipient first served with the Canadian Contingent - and qualified for all 3 x state clasps - as No. 467 E.Battery 37th Canadian Field Artillery, He also served at some time as No. 104 Trooper with the Utrecht Mounted Police prior to joining the 1st Battalion Kitchener's Fighting Scouts

Reference 'British Army Local Armed Forces Enrolments Forms, Anglo Boer War 1899-1902', the recipient was Hugh Jones, an Enlishman, who was 30 years of age when he enlisted in the 1st Battalion Kitchener's Fightig Scouts at Pretoria, South Africa in 1901. By trade he described himself as a 'Miner'by trade. His height was 5 feet & 6 inches, and described as having hazel eye's and dark brown hair. For his next of kin he gave a female relative. his sister, Mrs M. Carwd, who address was, 116 Kent Street, Widnes, Lancashire, England

Post-war, Hugh appears to have settled own in South Africa, where he took up a supervisory appointment with the 'Railways', and was the country he had the Canadian authorities send him his Queens South Africa Medal
