The most celebrated 'Micklethwaite' to serve in the Korean War, was No. 22486574 Private Maurice Micklethwaite of the Royal Fusiliers - better known to generations of movie-goers, as double 'Oscar' winner, Michael Caine (Sir Maurice Joseph Micklethwaite, C.B.E.)
As a national serviceman Michael Caine served with 'A 'Platoon, 'C' Company 1st Battalion Royal Fusiliers in Korea (earning a pair of campaign medals).He later put his first-hand experience of combat service in Korea to good use while acting in the British movie 'A Hill in Korea', which tells the story of a group of British soldiers being cut off by Chinese forces.
