Far East Prisoner of War: Private Alfred Stanley Pugh is confirmed being captured by the Imperial Japanese Army at the fall of Hong Kong Colony on Christmas Day, 25 December 1941. He was subsequently transported from Hong Kong to Japan where he was incarcerated at a POW Camp in Osaka, from where he was assigned as labour to work at the shipyards and industrial plant in the adjoining great port-city of Kobe
Acts of Sabotage: While interred in Osaka, and used as POW labour in kOBE, Private Alfred Pugh is confirmed to have carried out acts of sabotage against the enemy - the recipients extant POW Questionnaire, held and accessible at The National Archives, referS. If detected, any acts of 'Sabotage' performed by allied POW's, in Japan, would have been met with extreme punishment, and quite possibly execution for any POW who performed acts of sabotage
Kudos to Private Pugh - by the deeds of such citizen soldiers, who remained unbroken, and continued the fight 'against all odds', was victory assured over the forces of fascism in 1945
