The medal fitted with its original silk moire riband that is fitted with a white metal mounting bar complete with hinged pin & clasp fittings, as issued

Sold together with its black plush lined leatherette hinged case of issue, with makers logo for 'Elkington and Co Ltd' on inside silk panel. The outside upper lid of the case with the name of the medal in gilt tooled letting

The medal was established under the statutes of the Imperial Service Order, on 8 August 1902, by King Edward VII, with the first awards appearing in the London Gazette in May 1903

Some - but not all - overseas Dominions for example Australia, Canada & New Zealand, together with India (including Burma) and colony's in Ceylon and Straits Settlements (now Singapore and Malaya) were early subscribers (i.e., were making awards prior to 1910) of the award scheme of the Imperial Service Medal. All overseas awards of the EDVII issues of the Imperial Service Medal were similarly published in the London Gazette
