Like most, but not all, H.E.I.C. medals, the original dies were engraved at the Calcutta Mint, India, and was from where all officially struck H.E.I.C. medals for the Capture of Java, were issued
The Medal for the 'Capture of Java 1811, were only officially struck and issued in Gold, or Silver, and were only awarded to Indian native recipients
The Medal for the Capture of Java 1811, were issued without any authorised medal riband. Those subsequently adapted for wear are frequently seen offered fitted with golden cord's, or using the golden silk moire riband commonly seen used on the Seringapatam Medal, or less often the riband of the MGS
