King's Own Scottish Borderers: Other Ranks Helmet Plate (two-piece). Gilding metal & white metal. Victorian Crown. Issue circa 1887-1901

This type of regimental insignia was worn on 'Home-Service' by the regular  battalions of the King's Own Scottish Borderers (K.O.S.B.)

The shako plate complete with both loop fittings as issued. The w/m centre piece badge with both of its 'E' &'W' loop fittings as issued. The third loop fitting 'N' on the centre piece  sometime snapped (but still present)

A very scarce seen item of KOSB regimental insignia from the Victorian era

The insignia comprises the standard gilding metal base plate in use by the British Army in the late Victorian era, on which in the centre is inserted to standard pattern white metal regimental cap badge. as worn on Home Service 'Blue Cloth Helmet' 1887-1902
