Reference the 1901 National Census for England & Wales, he is recorded as Alfred King, employed as a 'Metroplitan Police Constable', and residing with his wife Emily and their 4 x children at 83 Earl Street, Edgware Road in the parish of St Marylebone, Marylebone, London, England
Alfred John King, son of King (a Farmer) and King (nee) was a a native of, Lambeth, Surry, England, where he was born on 31 December 1863. He was 22 years of age and measured 5 feet 9 inches in height, when he joined the Metropolitan Police in London at New Scotland Yard, on, 11 September 1887. Alfred served a total of 25 years 5 days with the Metropolitan Police by the time he took his discharge on 15 September 1907, and transfer to Pension from 16 September 1907. John retired as a 'Constable a rank he had held his entire 25 years service with the force. His record of service in the several divisions in which he served are as under:
- 'P' Division: 1 Year
- 'D' Division: 24 Years
Alfred was married to Emily. At the time of the compilation of the 1911 National Census for England & Wales, Alfred now described as 'Police Pensioner', was still residing with his wife and family (sons at their residence located at 83 Earl Street, Marylebone, London. Alfred was still alive at the time of the compilation of the National Register for England & Wales in 1939, and still living at the same family residence address as previously recorded
