Prior to the creation of 'The Arctic Star' (established in 2013, and made retroactive to Arctic Convoy's service from 3 September 1939), British and Commonwealth service personnel could - where eligible - only earn a maximum of 5 x campaign stars. Those personnel who did qualify for as many as 5 x campaign stars were invariably, only those who had performed naval or maritime service (this latter including Trooping/ Embarkation or DEMS personnel, from the other Military / Air Force services)
S.C.P.O.: Supply Chief Petty Officer (or Logistics Supply Chain Chief Petty Officer). This is a senior non-commissioned rate specializing in logistics, responsible for supply chain management, inventory, and operational support, often serving as CPOs within the Logistics Branch of the Royal Navy

Alan Thomas Carter, son of Thomas Parker (a 'Sign Writer') and Amy Florence Carter (nee) was a native of Wandsworth, London, England, where he was born, 4 August 1913. At the time of the 1921 National Census for England, John is shown as being 7 years & 4 months of age, and the son of Herbert Alfred Ault (a Toolmaker) and Priscilla Mary Ault (nee Bateman), the family residing at, 250 Bacchus Street, Birmingham, England. Alan joined the Royal Navy circa 1935, and at the tiem of the compilation of the 1939 National Register for England & Wales he is shown therein, employed as 'P/MX. 48826 Leading Supplies Assistant R.N, and residing with his wife, at 33a Ashburton Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. Alan Thomas Carter is recorded to have died at Portsmouth, Hampshire, England, sometime during the second quarter of 1987
The Royal Naval Auxiliary Service (RNXS) was a uniformed, unarmed, civilian volunteer service, administered and trained by the Royal Navy to operate in the ports and anchorages of the United Kingdom in an emergency. It maintained training units, and vessels at most major ports in the UK. and was formed in 1963 from the amalgamation of the Royal Naval Mine-watching Service (RNMWS) and Admiralty Ferry Crew Association in response to the perceived nuclear threat to British ports. The service was disbanded on 31 March 1994 due to Ministry of Defence (MOD) cuts. Most vessels from its fleet were transferred to the Royal Navy or sold
