Provenance: Item of insignia as-worn by No. 401 Sergeant John Thomas Furness Cape Town Highlanders, who served in the regiment 1921-41 (Africa Service Medal &Efficiency Medal with bar). See attached an image of Sergeant Furness (in middle sitting) wearing regimental cap badge, collar badges & shoulder titles. Cape Town Highlanders: The regiment was established as the Cape Town Highlanders, The Duke of Connaught and Strathearn’s Own on April 24, 1885 and wears the Gordon tartan as a reflection of its historical regimental affiliation with the Gordon Highlanders of the British Army
