Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal. GV 2nd issue (1862165 Spr. H. Parry. R.E.)

Musician: During his long military career first as an Infantryman and secondly as a Sapper, Henry Parry is variously recorded as a Musician throughout his military service, and through the inter-war years was a member of the Royal Engineers Band in which he plated the 'Euphonium'

Medals Verification: Medal rolls for GV issue Military 'Regualr Army' LS&GC Medals are not in the public domain as of writing in 2026. What is known is that the recipient who enlisted in the British Army in February 1907 (possibly under 'Boy Service' terms) was awarded his LS&GC medal for 18 years service with 'The Colours' circa 1925. Prior to being awarded his LS&GC medal, Sapper Parry had already received 3 x war medals & a clasp for hisfront-line combat service during the Great War, in which war he served throughout with the Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment), per below cited sources: 

- 1914 Star. With dated clasp: WO 329/2462 disembarked France 04/11/14 as 10277 L/Cpl  1/Notts & Derby
- British War Medal. Silver issue: WO 329/1384 rank shown as Corporal
- Interallied Victory Medal: WO 329/1384 rank shown as Corporal
- Army LS&GC. GV II issue: Awarded circa 1925 after completing 18 years aggregated service with 'The Colours' 

Henry 'Harry' Parry who was the fourth son of William Parry (a Miner) and Sarah Ann Parry, was a native of Staveley, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England, where he was born on, 24 May 1891, He was baptized in , and where he was baptized in the parish of, Heath, Derbyshire on, 19 June 1891. By the time of the compilation of the 1901 National Census for England & Wales, Henry is recorded residing with his widowed mother, Sarah Ann Parry (38), together with 4 x siblings, at their residence located at 54 St Mary's Gate, Chesterfield, Henry originally enlisted in his local infantry regiment the Sherwood Foresters, in which infantry regiment he served in the 1st Battalion in India in the period leading up to the Great War (he is recorded stationed in India at the time of the compilation of the 1911 Census for England, at which time he is shown employed with army trade of a 'Musician'. Henry embarked for France in November 1914, he first saw action at Neuve Chapelle in March 1915 and was later advanced to Corporal. Then in November 1921, he transferred to the Royal Engineers as a Musician, and he remained likewise employed until discharged in July 1938. He died in Rochester, Kent, England, on 19 November 1958
