Francis Charles Miller was a former 'Professionl Soldier' and 'Old Contemptible' who had earlier served in the Great war, and whose confirmed medal entitlement by 9April 1943 was:

Francis Charles Miller, son of Charles Francis Miller & Miller (nee) was a native of Newington, Surrey, England where he was born on 9 March 1883. Francis enlisted in the British Army on 17 July 1901, on which date he was posted to the Royal Field Artillery branch of the Royal Regiment of Artillery. He married Lilian Maude Neville at Southwark, London, on, 17 December 1911. The highest rank that Francis attained in his army career was 'Corporal-Saddler' that he was appointed on 1 April 1916. Francis served overseas on active service in France & Flanders 19/08/1914 - 13/03/1919. At the time of the compilation of the National Register for England & Wales 1939,  Francis is recorded employed as 'Skilled Workman Post Office Engineering Dept Lineman' and living with his family (wife, 2 x sons and daughter) at, 6 Beauval Road, Camberwell, London, England. In 1956, Francis died at Camberwell, London, and his body was subsequently laid to rest at Southwark, London, England on 16 June 1956
