First letter 'M' of forename on GSM 'Malaya' only has been officially corrected, and exactly as issued to the recipient. The upper clasp on GSM 1962 attached by the customary white metal rod, as issued with all subsequent clasps issue for the GSM 1962

The recipient Manbahadur Limbu was a Nepalese soldier of Gurkha ethnicity and the Hindu faith, with origins in Eastern Nepal, who latterly held the rank of Rifleman - and trade of 'Cook' - while serving with 1st Battalion 7th Gurkha Rifles of the British Army

- General Service Medal 1918-62. GVI 2nd issue with clasp 'Malaya': Medal awarded 15 March 1955
- General Service Medal 1962-2007. With clasp 'Borneo': Medal awarded per Army Order 62 of 64
Manbahadur Limbu was born in 1935 and attested for the 7th Gurkha Rifles on 28 October 1953. He served with them as a Cook in Malaya from 5 January 1954 to 16 November 1956, and again from 18 May 1957 to 1 April 1959; from 17 May 1961 to 3 February 1963; and 26 March 1965 to 7 June 1966, as well as for various other shorter periods. He saw active service in Borneo from 4 February to 12 May 1963, and was discharged at Singapore on 1 August 1968.
