Medals Verification: There are no Queen Elizabeth II era Police LSGC medal rolls in the public domain and there no Second World War medal rolls for any of the British Armed Forces, in the public domain as of 2026. The Coronation Medal 1953 is however confirmed as entitled per the respective Coronation Medal 1953 which volumes are held on the Open Shelves of The National Archives

A search of on-line genealogical sources, including Ancestry, Findmypast & Scotlands People, returned only 7 x 'possible' female candidates of name 'Ivy L. Middleton' who were recorded born in the United Kingdom (not including Northern Ireland) in the period 1905-1925. Of those only one single woman, Ivy Louise Middleton, a native of Norwich, Norfolk, England (where she was bon in 1915 and died in Norwich on 8 June 1994), neither married, or had children in the period 1945-1970

At the time of the compilation of the National Register for England & Wales in 1939, Ivy Louise Middleton is recorded residing with her parents and younger brother, Horace Middleton (b.1924) at their residence located at, 10 Russell Street, Norwich, Norfolk, at which time she is shown employed as 'Machinist Boot Maker', and perhaps significantly also recorded her voluntary 'Civil Defence' services, as a member of the Air Raid Precautions / First Aid Post

Considering the 'Marriage Bar' that existed in United Kingdom Police Forces in the post-war years 1945-1975, including the discriminatory regulations that prohibited pregnant women police officers from continuing to serve as Police Officers (they were required to leave the service if pregnant) we suggest - but do not know - that Ivy Louise Middleton 1915-1994 - who never married and never had children - likely served in one of the women's armed services during the Second World War, and post-war served as a Police Officer, for which latter career received her Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal for 20 years unblemished service
