Lieutenant John Andrew Cardew Duncan (1925-1945) who was educated at Eton College and R.M.C. Sandhurst, was the only son of Major-General Ronald Cardew Duncan, C.I.E., M.V.O., O.B.E. Commandant Jodhpur State Forces 1939-45, late Commandant 2nd Battalion 5th Gurkha Rifle (Frontier Force), whose medals (full-size and miniature) together with his companion portrait in oils by the same artist are being offered for sale separately on the website

Recipient was entitled to the below following un-named Second World War campaign medals, that were issued posthumously to the fallen officers next of kin in (British Army Second World War Medal Index Card refers):

- The 1939-1945 Star. No clasp
- The France and Germany Star. No clasp
- War Medal

The portrait is signed (named indistinct) and painted circa 1946 - a companion portrait of Lt. Duncan's father by the same artist was signed and dated '1946'

In overall good condition. The frame appears intact, while the canvas has 2 x small tears 7-10mm in upper left field quadrant in the 'clouds'
