Recipient's service number with single digit typo error, is exactly as erroneously transcribed from the clerical error entered in the medal roll. Guardsman Slade-Hurn's actual unique Army Number was 2670426 - and no-other person of that surname ever served with the Coldstream Guards

The recipient was Peter William Donald Slade-Hurn, who held the rank of Guardsman while serving with a battalion of the Coldstream Guards

Post-war, both 1st and 3rd Battalions of the Coldstream Guards served in the Palestine Mandate under higher formation 1st Guards Brigade

Photograph of Recipient: Following his discharge from the British Army, Peter Slade-Hurn worked as a 'Driving Instructor' and a captioned photograph of the recipient was published in 'The Stratham Times' newspaper issue of 19 April 1957

Peter William Donald Slade-Hurn, son of William Charles Slade-Hurn (a Grocer's Assistant) and Margaret May Slade-Hurn (nee Hunt) was a native of Portishead, Somerset, England where he was born on 1 December 1927. At the time of the compilation of the National Register of England & Wales in 1939, Peter is recorded living with his parents at their residence located at, 239 Wick Road, Bristol, England. By trade a 'Stores Labourer' Peter enlisted in the British Army at Bristol, England on 12 July 1945, and posted to the Regimental Depot of the Coldstream Guards, with which regiment he was allocated the unique British Army number 2670426. Reference the Coldstream Guards enlistment register Peter was discharged  to the Army Reserve on 1 July 1951, and took his final discharge from the British Army on 14 February 1953, on which date he was relegated to Section B of the Regular  Army Reserve, having been found to be 'medically unfit for further service'. Sometime during the 3rd quarter of 1953, Peter married Eileen Rose Ellis. the marriage being registered in Surrey, England. Peter is recorded to have died in Surrey, England, sometime during the 4th quarter of 1998
