There are many mentions / articles in 1960'S - 1970's local newspapers pertaining to Detective Sergeant Frank Bradley's police cases & service in Lincolnshire / Humberside, throughout his long career. The below extract summary of his career, appeared in a lengthy article following his retirement and was published in the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph newspaper issue of 6 October 1978:

Ashby-born Mr. Bradley, of Staindale Road Scunthorpe, now becomes the number two in the department.

Mr Bradley Joined the Police Force in 1948, after serving in the Army for two years as a bombardier.

During his 30 years in the constabulary he served in Scunthorpe, Sleaford and Gainsborough and in 1957 was moved to CID

Nine years later he was promoted to the rank of detective sergeant and was later awarded the Police Good Conduct Medal to mark his 22 years service.

Mr. Bradley who is also the holder of the Queen's Jubilee Medal, has taken a special interest in the sport of tug-of-war in recent years.

Three years ago he took the Scunthorpe Police team through to the national finals for the first time in their history.

Mr. Bradley who serves on the Committee of the 260 Mess of the Fellowship of Services, said he looked forward to the challenge of his new job after 30 years in the force.

"I am interested in helping people. It is in-bred," he said.
