Sidney Thomas Russell, was a pre-war regular professional soldier of the British Army. Reference the 'Transfer-In Register Books 1938-45 held by the Royal Welsh Fusiliers, for period 1938-45, Number 30 records that 5242466 Sidney (or Sydney) Thomas Russell was posted to the 11th Battalion Royal Welsh Fusiliers on 22 October 1941. Sidney was then transferred to either 1st or 2nd Battalion of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers, which were the only 2 x battalions of the RWF to serve overseas in Burma during the Second World War. The register shows that the recipient was discharged from the British Army 'Time Expired' on 25 April 1944, per British Army’s King’s Regulations 1940, Paragraph 390 (XXI) (B) the official regulatory code used to discharge a soldier upon the "termination of his period of engagement" (often abbreviated as "T/E" or "time expired")
